Our annual trip to Chester for the Races on Ladies Day took place on Thursday 9th May 2024. We all had a magnificent day out. How lucky we all were enjoying the sunshine on one of the warmest days of the year! We all met promptly at the Village Hall at 9.30 am where we enjoyed a glass of Bucks Fizz together with one of Mick Shaw’s wonderful Full English breakfasts! Then we were off to Chester at 10.30 in our mini bus. Steve our driver took us on the wonderful scenic route – avoiding the busy motorway. We arrived at the Abode Hotel where we enjoyed light refreshments before heading to the racecourse and its fabulous atmosphere – admiring the horses and the ladies beautiful outfits. We all had a little gamble or two -7 races in all – and some of us were lucky on the day to return with a few extra pounds in our pockets!! We arrived safely at the village hall for a wonderful supper again organised by Mick Shaw.
